Donating to Orphans and Widows in Morocco: How to Help

Published October 3, 2026

In Morocco, many orphans and widows live in real hardship, especially when the family has lost its only income. Supporting these households is one of the oldest and most valued forms of giving. Here's how to help orphans and widows in Marrakech in a concrete way.

Please note: Maroc Générations does not run an orphanage and does not offer individual child sponsorship. We help orphans and widows within their families, through food aid and support at religious festivals.

What the Orphans and Widows Fund does

Food baskets

The fund pays for food baskets for households of orphans and widows. They help families who have lost their main income to eat properly.

Sheep for Eid al-Adha

So that Eid is a celebration for the poorest families too, the fund pays for Eid sheep. You can sponsor a sheep for a family in need (seasonal offer) or give one in kind.

Farhat Al Aïd: your Zakat for the most vulnerable

The Farhat Al Aïd action is a gift aimed at orphans, widows, elderly people and people with disabilities. It can receive your Zakat: just mention it in your message.

Why help families rather than institutions?

Helping an orphan within their family lets them stay with their loved ones, in their neighbourhood and their school. Food aid directly relieves the mother or relative raising them.
